Overview

At iTransport, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s largest independent transport planning consultancies, with offices across Basingstoke, Solent, London, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol.

We help our clients navigate complex transport challenges with practical, innovative solutions while creating a collaborative and supportive environment where our people can grow and succeed.

We’re now looking for an Associate Transport Planner to take a key leadership role within the practice, delivering high quality projects, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to our continued growth.

The role

As an Associate, you will lead the delivery of complex and high profile transport planning projects, providing expert technical direction and strategic insight. You’ll play a central role in managing client relationships, guiding teams, and helping shape the direction of both projects and the wider practice.

This is a career step for an experienced professional ready to broaden their influence—combining technical leadership, team development, and commercial contribution.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and managing multiple complex transport planning projects
  • Providing oversight and approval of key technical deliverables
  • Applying advanced modelling and analysis to inform strategic decisions
  • Acting as a senior client contact and representing the consultancy in stakeholder meetings and negotiations
  • Managing and developing project teams, ensuring quality and consistency across outputs
  • Providing strategic advice aligned with planning policy, sustainability, and client objectives
  • Supporting business development through client engagement, proposals, and identifying new opportunities
  • Mentoring and developing colleagues across the practice

About you

You’ll be an experienced transport planner with a strong technical background and the confidence to lead projects, people, and client relationships.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in development related transport planning
  • Strong technical expertise in modelling, analysis, and highway design
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to developing client relationships
  • Chartered status (or working towards it) with a relevant professional body

Experience on high profile projects and involvement in business development would be advantageous.

Why join iTransport?

We offer a flexible and supportive working environment where you can make a real impact while continuing to develop your career.

Our benefits include:

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (increasing with service)
  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • Private medical insurance
  • Life assurance and critical illness cover
  • Professional development support and paid subscriptions
  • Hybrid and flexible working
